The fungus that causes athlete's foot produces cracking, redness, and itching. Your skin has tiny cracks where germs can get inside and create an infection. Athlete's foot can be treated with drugs that eradicate the fungus. These drugs are available as tablets or creams. A fungal infection can cause your nails to grow thick, brittle, discolored (opaque or yellowish-brown), and possibly split off from the remainder of your nail. It is possible for your nail to crumble. A fungal growth may be aided by the warm, damp, and gloomy conditions found in shoes. Diabetes that is not under control can harm your nerves. You may not feel pain, heat, or cold in your legs or feet if you have damaged nerves in those areas. We refer to this lack of sensation as "sensory diabetic neuropathy." Because of neuropathy, if you do not feel a cut or pain on your foot, it could develop worse and infected. Your foot muscles might not function correctly if there is injury to the nerves that supply them. This could lead to improper foot alignment and excessive pressure on one area of the foot.
